ABOUT

OUR SOCIETY:  The Central Oklahoma Cactus & Succulent Society is a non-profit organization of people interested in Cacti, Succulents and other Xerophytic plants.  We exchange information in organized programs and projects.  Some of the topics we cover during our meetings are plant development, cultivation of cacti and succulents.  Our club has about 40 members.

OUR MISSION:   “The Central Oklahoma Cactus and Succulent Society (COCSS) was founded in Oklahoma City in 1968 as one of more than 100 affiliates of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America (CSSA), which was organized in 1929 to promote better understanding and appreciation of some of nature’s most unusual and unique creations.  The CSSA is dedicated to the conversation and preservation of threatened and endangered plant life throughout the world. Our Society’s purpose is to learn about cacti and other succulent plants, to disseminate knowledge and promote interest, and to educate the public about the need to preserve these plants in their native habitat.”

AFFILIATION:  We are affiliated with the Cactus and Succulent Society of America http://www.cssainc.org/ and we also interact more locally with the Cactus and Succulent Society of Tulsa-Oklahoma.

MEETING:  At Will Rogers Gardens at 3400 NW 36th in Oklahoma City, the third Thursday of every month at 7 pm  (except during the month of our show and sale, picnic and for the December Christmas party).  We have programs about cacti and other succulents.  We also have plants and seed giveaways, drawings and exchanges.  The garden’s phone number is: 405-297-1392
